Ask yourself this; Can you have both the best weekends racing and some of the worst at the same time?
Yes is the answer...
The weekend at Pembrey started out on the Friday with practice, a full day trying to put all the efforts of Andy and I into improving my riding from theory to track. The day started great, turn in points, brake markers and off line routes all working great. That great, that even worn tyres didn't slow me or the bike down. What a feeling when it goes right...
What a feeling when it goes wrong... BANG ! goes the race motor. Lucky for me everything stayed inside the cases so no oil ended up where it shouldn't and I rolled the bike back to the pits. Now I have to give a really big Thank You out to the team for all of their help. My wife Sian and a good friend Tony brought up the spare engine from home while I dropped out the old one. The motor arrived at the circuit for about 10 o'clock that evening and with the help of Big C, Andy and Tony we had the engine in and ready to run just after midnight. Now that's team work....
A little to the left... It will go back in.
So up and ready for racing the next day, all four race's for me were by far some of my best rides. With the bike now running a standard engine I was having to punch well above my own BHP to stay with them. My time's were around the 1.04 second area all weekend. For a late race on a Sunday afternoon for me thats just unheard of. By the time the weekend is coming to a close I'm just to tired to go that fast. The key to it was to use the marker's from Friday and concentrate. Easier said than done... All in all the weekend was just great, roll on the next one...
